Practical Health Guidance from AS-SUNNAH ACADEMY – Institute of Prophetic Medicine

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Your body is one of the greatest blessings Allah has entrusted to you.

It carries you through your daily activities, allows you to worship, work, learn, care for your family and serve humanity.

That is why taking care of your body should not begin only when sickness appears.

Prevention, healthy habits and responsible self-care are also important parts of maintaining wellbeing.

As a practitioner and researcher of Prophetic Medicine, I always remind people that good health is not simply about the medicines we take.

Our everyday choices matter.

What we eat.
How we sleep.
How much we move.
How we manage stress.
How we rest.
How we care for our physical and emotional wellbeing.

🚶 WHY DAILY MOVEMENT MATTERS

You do not have to become an athlete to benefit from physical activity.

For many people, simple and regular movement can support:

  • General physical fitness
  • Mobility and flexibility
  • Muscle strength
  • Balance and coordination
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Healthy body weight
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Independence in daily activities

The important principle is:

START SMALL. BE CONSISTENT. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.

A few gentle movements performed regularly may be more sustainable than beginning with an extremely difficult exercise programme and abandoning it after a few days.

🌿 SIMPLE MOVEMENTS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR DAY

Depending on your age, fitness level and physical condition, you may consider incorporating:

🚶 1. GENTLE WALKING

Walking is one of the simplest ways to introduce more movement into your day.

You can begin with a comfortable duration and gradually increase your activity as your fitness improves.

🧘 2. GENTLE STRETCHING

Gentle stretching can help maintain flexibility and make movement more comfortable.

Avoid forcing a stretch or continuing when you experience significant pain.

🦵 3. LEG AND JOINT MOVEMENTS

Simple controlled movements of the legs and joints can help maintain mobility.

These can be particularly useful for people who spend long periods sitting.

💪 4. SHOULDER AND ARM MOVEMENTS

Gentle shoulder rolls, arm movements and mobility exercises can help counter some of the stiffness associated with prolonged sitting.

🫁 5. CALM BREATHING

Slow, comfortable breathing can be incorporated into relaxation routines.

It should not cause dizziness or discomfort.

🧍 6. POSTURE AND MOBILITY

Pay attention to how you sit, stand and move throughout the day.

If your work involves prolonged use of a phone, tablet or computer, remember to take regular breaks and change position.

🕌 CARING FOR THE BODY IS PART OF RESPONSIBILITY

As Muslims, we should remember that our bodies are an Amanah — a trust from Allah.

We should therefore avoid both extremes:

Neglecting the body
and
becoming excessively focused on the body.

The balanced approach is to care for the body while remembering our greater purpose of worshipping Allah and benefiting humanity.

Healthy habits should support our lives, not become an obsession.

🥗 MOVEMENT IS ONLY ONE PART OF HEALTH

Physical activity works best as part of a broader healthy lifestyle.

Consider combining regular movement with:

🥗 A balanced and nutritious diet
💧 Adequate hydration
😴 Sufficient sleep
🧘 Stress management
🕌 Regular worship and spiritual reflection
👨‍👩‍👧 Healthy social relationships
🩺 Appropriate medical care when necessary

There is no single food, exercise or remedy that guarantees perfect health.

Good health is usually the result of many responsible choices repeated over time.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE

This guide is intended for general health education.

Exercise is not a replacement for medical treatment, and the same exercise programme is not appropriate for everyone.

If you have severe pain, significant weakness, serious illness, recent surgery, dizziness, breathing difficulty, chest pain, or another condition that limits your movement, seek appropriate professional advice before beginning or increasing physical activity.

If exercise causes significant or unusual symptoms, stop and seek appropriate medical assessment.

🌿 A SIMPLE DAILY REMINDER

You don’t need to wait until you become sick before you start caring about your health.

Start today.

Take a walk.

Stretch gently.

Stand up from your chair.

Move your body.

Drink enough water.

Eat wisely.

Rest adequately.

And remember Allah while enjoying the blessing of good health.

Your body is an Amanah. Treat it with care

Final Reflection

Good health should not be appreciated only after we lose it.

Move gently. Eat wisely. Rest adequately. Seek knowledge. Take appropriate medical care. And place your trust in Allah.

May Allah grant us sound bodies, peaceful hearts, beneficial knowledge and the ability to use our health in ways that please Him.

Ameen.
