Origin of prophetic medicine

In the heart of complementary, alternative, and herbal medicine is a thriving medical tradition known as Tibbu. The basis was laid by prophetic medicine, which later incorporated components from Egypt, India, China, and classical Greece. Prophetic medicine, also known as Arabic, Greco-Arab, Hikmah, Unani, Islamic, Traditional Arabic & Islamic Medicine (TAIM), is a well-known traditional healing system that encompasses dietary practices, herbal medicines, spiritual therapies, mind-body practices, and manual techniques that can be used alone or in combination to treat, diagnose, and prevent illnesses as well as maintain well-being. In the Middle East, traditional medicine has been practiced since ancient times despite notable improvements in mainstream medicine. TAIM is frequently the initial line of treatment for those with conditions like depression, psychosomatic problems, and infertility. Parallel to contemporary, conventional medicine, traditional Arabic medicine is an amalgam of:

  •  Ayurvedic
  • Two traditional Chinese medicine,
  • Persian
  • FourGraeco-Roman philosophies and methods.

The history of Islamic medicine dates back to the early.  Islamic scholars gathered knowledge from all over the known world and added their own discoveries during the Islamic Golden Age, which lasted from the 8th to the 15th centuries, and this led to many significant scientific advancements. Islamic medicine was one of these crucial fields. According to medical history, “Islamic medicine” refers to the branch of medicine that was developed in the Middle East and is basically expressed in Arabic, the common tongue of Islamic civilization. With Europe still mired in the Dark Ages, this time period in medical history was undoubtedly light years ahead of it. According to the Prophet Muhammad’s sayings, he believed that Allah had sent a cure for every ailment and that it was the responsibility of Muslims to take care of the body and spirit. This belief in the Qur’an and Hadiths, which stated that Muslims had a duty to care for the sick, was central to Islamic medicine. This was frequently referred to as “Medicine of the Prophet” or prophetic medicine. Given that many Hadiths set forth guidelines for a holistic approach to health, this unquestionably falls under the purview of enhancing the standard of healthcare and guaranteeing access for all. The use of Greek, Chinese, and Indian medical techniques—many of which were viewed as pagan—by Islamic doctors initially sparked some controversy in the early days of Islam. The Islamic doctors were given complete freedom to research and use any methods they wished after a lengthy debate.
